Various artists will be travelling to North Korea to perform at a special concert.
On March 20th, the lineup and dates for a concert at Pyongyang, North Korea were decided and revealed after a meeting for performances by North and South Korea art troupes, conducted at Panmunjom. A group of 160 artists from South Korea were finalized, who will be performing at the special concert.
The lineup includes Cho Yong Pil, Lee Sun Hee, Yoon Do Hyun, Baek Ji Young, Jung In, Ali, Red Velvet, and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun. Their performance will be directed by producer and singer Yoon Sang.
Red Velvet is the first girl group to perform in North Korea, since Baby VOX‘s performance back in 2003. They commented on their participation, “We are honored and happy to attend a meaningful event. As it is our first time performing in Pyongyang, we are looking forward to it. We will prepare well to showcase great performances.”
The concert will be held for four days from March 31st to April 3rd, at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and Pyongyang Arena. Ahead of the event, the staff from South Korea will visit Pyongyang from March 22nd- 24th to assess the logistic and various requirements necessary for the performances, such as stage props, equipment and more.
