Fantasy blockbuster “Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds” sets new record as it surpasses 2 million movie attendees in just four days.
According to the real-time box office figures from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), as of 4:00 p.m. KST, the Lotte Entertainment fantasy production “Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds” recorded 2,002,365 in the cumulative number of views.
Since its premiere on December 20th, the movie has set a new record of surpassing 2 million attendees just within four days. The movie seized first place in box office ticket sales, by gaining popularity through word-of-mouth and is currently dominating with a booking rate of 58.9 percent.
The 2 million milestone was achieved just a day after surpassing 1 million viewers on December 22nd. This new record is set eight days faster than 2014’s winter box office hit, “Ode to My Father” and six days ahead of 2013’s winter super-hit “The Attorney.” The record set by “Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds” is also four hours ahead of rival film “Master” which was previously the fastest film to gain 2 million viewers in December 2016.
The current box-office rival “Steel Rain“, a production from Next Entertainment World also topped 2 million in attendance on the sixth day of its release.
“Along With The Gods: The Two Worlds” is the first part of the two part series based on a famous webtoon of the same title, written by Joo Ho-min and stars Ha Jung Woo, Cha Tae Hyun, Ju Ji Hoon, Kim Hyang Gi, Lee Jung Jae, Kim Dong Wook, EXO‘s D.O. and more. The story revolves around a man who is judged in seven hells for 49 days after his death, guided by three grim reapers. The movie is directed by Kim Yong Hwa who is known for his work in “200 Pound Beauty,” “Mr. Go” and “Take Off“.
